Uncanny X-Force #28
Highly Recommended!
I was starting to worry about this series. There have been a couple of “meh” issues ever since the Dark Angel Saga arc ended. Don’t get me wrong, there have been some great parts in both the Otherworld arc, and this current Final Execution arc - not only great, but important to the story moving forward.
You should know, if you simply pick this issue up, without reading the issues between the Dark Angel Saga and here, A LOT of things have changed. There have been several deaths, both of body/soul, but also faith and emotion. You will get a good idea of what is going on based on the intro page - I am not going to spoil anything here.
This single issue has redeemed the series for me, even with all the “faults” I would have given it to this point. I am not saying it makes the “poor” issues/concepts better, but it does make them more tolerable.
Suffice to say, this issue is a game changer… much like the last issue was - it seems the Marvel creative team is on a killing spree. In this issue, they are both literally and figuratively killing the future for the team and the series (or so it seems). This is why this series is so intriguing. You really never know who is going to die. Maybe this arc is more telling than first expected. We may have to take its name, “Final Execution” more seriously.
This book is definitely worth picking up. It is not a great jumping on point, but if you do, you will be thrown into the mix very quickly and will need to acclimatize quicker than usual.
I am very interested to see where this series is going - or not going for that matter.
